Naked Neck 'Poulet Rouge' Chicken

Heritage full flavored bird.  This breed is reknown for it's delicious flavor.  We grow these birds slowly out on green pasture.  While the standard white chicken is generally processed at 7 weeks of age or less, these Heritage birds are processed at 13 weeks.  This allows them to grow at a natural pace and develop a rich real chicken flavor.  While they look silly with no neck feathers this bird traces it's origin to Transylvania from where it was taken to France and is now the standard bird under the small farm Label Rouge system due to it's incredibly high table quality and hardiness in the outdoors.  We are very happy with this breed and now are keeping a dual purpose flock and incubating our meat chickens from the eggs that our hens lay.  This allows us to continually improve our flock and adapt the birds to the specifics of our farm climate and takes us off of dependency on far away hatcheries.

Yukon Gold
Yukon Gold has yellow-buff skin and yellow flesh. Yes, you can get these in the grocery stores and I would not have bothered to grow them again this year except that I discovered that they make the very best home made potato chip. Serve with Cranberry Red potato chips for a treat your family and friends will never stop talking about.

Amish Paste
21 seed savers can’t be wrong! That’s how many listed Amish Paste in the 2007 Seed Savers Yearbook, making it one of the most popular items in the Exchange. Their comments tell it all, “the ultimate sauce type,” “wonderful flavor and production,” “my favorite paste tomato for the past eight years,” “large, meaty, heart-shaped fruit,” “prolific, good in drought and wet weather.” Thick bright-red flesh, juicy, and firm textured. Good for fresh eating and for sauces.
Cherokee Purple

Medium-large, flattened globe fruits. Color is dusky pink with dark shoulders. Multilocular interior ranges from purple to brown to green.
